Internet Explorer is Driving Me crazy!!!

My Cruiser PC is a Dell Notebook running Win2000 and IE vbersion 6.

They are both legal. I went to Bill's web and downloaded the most current patches for Win2000 and IE version6.

The problem.

I do any Google search and click on the web of my choosing. I am always redirected to some "other" web site. The type that is full of adds that sponsors get paid for. I click back and then am allowed to go to the web of my choice.

I purchase a spywaye from PC tools and ran it. It found some mild spyware that I eliminated. The problem persists.

Any suggestions?

I would run a virus scan assuming your definitions are up to date. For spyware I use AdAware and Spybot Search n Destroy. I would also check the host file located in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc, open it with notepad. There should be nothing but "127.0.0.1 localhost" listed in there, anything listed after that can be deleted.
