So in my quest to prevent rust in my 60, I had and idea to get Fluid Film into some very hard to reach areas. My thought is to drill a couple of small holes into the top of the back hatch, tailgate, and roof pillars from the inside of the vehicle. Then shoot fluid Film into those areas at regular intervals and then close them up using hole plugs like these...

I've been using FF on the frame and other areas for the last couple of years and it seems to be doing a very good job at protecting the metal. I'm thinking at the least it couldn't hurt, and it could possibly protect those areas from moisture/rust. What do you think? Good idea or waste of time?

Any kind of rust prevention is well worth it, that said I'm not familiar with Fluid Film, do you have any pics of the stuff applied to the rig. I have my vehicles oil undercoated once a year, they spray inside the rockers, doors, pillars, tailgate, hatch, chassis, and the entire undercarriage of the rig in the same method you described. In addition to the spayed oil undercoating, I also use a paint brush and or a syringe to apply more oil into/onto the rig, it's messy but works well.

I don't have any picts available but I'll shoot some when I get a chance. Foxfab noticed it when he was checking out my rig last week. I had hit it again the week before.

Btw...from the main 60 forum...

Here is a better suggestion then drilling holes...though I'll pass on the fish oil and use Fluid Film instead:

I’ve done a few 60 roofs from the inside, no need to drill holes, if you punch a couple of tiny holes in the head liner above where the roof joins the pillars you can spray fish oil in that roof area that likes to rust from the inside.
I'd spray a lot both sides then park the truck on a hill facing one way then reverse it so it runs the other way making sure the whole roof cops it.

.... Up in this area behind the liner? I could unload a can or two up there.

Yep, if you get the pressure packs with the little tube like wd40 you need to make only a tiny hole.
