On my '99 the gas gauge has been acting up. Starting about 4/5 weeks ago if I stop for a short time and get back in, the gauge is on empty and light is on. Then after driving a bit, it returns to normal. Seems to happen when there's less than 3/4's of a tank of gas. Sound like a float issue? Seems like it would be more of an electrical issue than mechanical. Anyway, any ideas or experiences that might help me?

Mine did the same thing... I fiddled with the waring harness looking for a problem and just my messing with it fixed it. The harness on the left at the back.

Same thing happened to me last year. I just tightened up the gas cap and re-started the engine and it was fixed. It seems if I just turn until it clicks once or twice, I get that problem intermittantly. If I rotate the cap about half way around after the clicking begins, I never have the problem. It is worth a shot before you start jiggling wires.
