installed a oil seperator on my 80

Is this just a good idea for TLC owners to do? Is there an OEM part or no?

The reason for doing this is to reduce the amount of oil vapor that goes through our intakes. The oil vapor combines with carbon from the EGR system to form a nice "goo" that collects inside the intake runners. This mod can be done on many engines. This is a cheap way to do it. You can buy specifically made oil catch cans or crankcase vapor canisters, they just cost more.

Not to mention, I think it gives a complete different look ([STRIKE]pimp[/STRIKE]) to the whole engine

I am sure a small amount of water will get pulled in due to condensation forming inside the engine during cool-down, then being evaporated and burned off as the engine gets to operating temps.

What the hell? How's it restricted for sale if it's in the store for sale?

I just ordered both hoses with the intention to put a separator in each.. Home Deport run this weekend

So I locate all the parts for the Kobalt filter at Lowes and when I get to the check out the 3/8 hose barb adapter comes up as restricted to sale. So there I was with no way to attach the hose to the filter housing!

They need those 3/8 adapters to cool the reactors.

Did somebody say "pimp"?...

ERG80....how/what did you affix the separator to?

Figured out a way to secure the filter and added a 90' elbow to keep the hose from touching anything. The filter doesn't move at all now.

ERG80: Where did you get that bracket?

ERG80: Where did you get that bracket?

It was a piece of scrap metal I had laying around that I bent to fit properly and drilled holes in. Part of an attic door hinge i think. lol

Look in the plumbing section at Lowes for the barbs. They have all the sizes. Did not have anything in the tool section where the seperators are.

So after about a week of having the separator installed, this what has accumulated. Approximently 500 miles driven in that time. Seems to be working fine. No noticeable side effects in truck performance.

wow! looks like about 1/2" I'm guessing if the separator is as big as the ones I have in my air lines.
that is a lot. I would have thought it'd be much less. pretty compelling mod to do then
