Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a 2007 LC and I have been thinking about having Overland Cruisers in Belgrade perform one of their Comprehensive Vehicle Inspections on it. I am curious if anyone here has had this done before and could provide some feedback on their experience. I was quoted $1500 for a CVI which surprised me, but it was explained to me that they spend more than a full day on the inspection and that I can expect a 20+ page report detailing the condition of my cruiser. I know I want an inspection done mostly for peace of mind, but $1500 sounds quite steep considering they won't be performing any actual maintenance and anything that needs to be repaired will be on top of that.

I guess I am also looking for validation, would this be worth it?

Thanks

I asked them to do a mechanical inspection for me when I bought my LX470. I asked that they not exceed 4 hours and that they give me a list of recommended maintenance. This would not have been anywhere near as extensive as the CVI, but it gave me a lot of good information and I was comfortable with the price. $1,500 is pretty steep, but I'm sure they will give you great information. They are a busy shop, because they do a good job, so I suspect that price is to protect their billable time and keep shop space available for customer projects.

Thanks pigmony. The more I think about it, the more what you said about billable time makes sense. I am glad to hear you had a positive experience and that makes me feel better about shelling out the dough. I have a CVI booked for late October and I am super nervous about what they might find, but I am glad to hear that it will be in good hands. I am thinking that if anything critical pops up I will have them perform the repairs, but outside of that I will try and do as much as I can myself or take it to my local mechanic shop.

ive had them look at the LX in the past to get it ready for the rubicon. yeah they arent cheep but they know what their looking at. full disclosure i have a ton of freinds that work there.

What do you use your truck for, daily driving or remote off road travel?
Do you feel or have any current concerns that may be something you want to fix?

$1500 isn't cheap. I'm sure it's totally justified in their time and experience but it would depend on your piggy bank. I suspect for way cheaper @ttFJC or other member would hop in and go on a shakedown ride with you and tell you if something doesn't sound right

I went through a similar thought process recently when I bought my GX470. then I was like, meh, it rides good and have since moved on BUT I don't take that rig off the pavement much and it doesn't require that level of attention. All depends on your personal preference really
