on my 88 62 on the drivers side finder is mounted the injecter blower motor.according to fj40 jim thats its job to cool things down. but after much thought and investagation ive never seen it work never.when does it blow only going down the road, does it ever blow when it is at idle.any ideas
It should start after you shut down, if it's not working, it shouldn't be to hard to fix. When I bought my cruiser, the fan wasn't working. The wire that is supposed to hook to the sensor on the bottom of the intake manifold was just hanging. After hooking the wire back up it worked perfectly. This could be a possible cause of your problem, after 20 years, the wire is probably pretty brittle and could of broke off from vibration. I've heard that the fan is a must have for hot starts, so it would be a good idea to get it working.
Edit** I just realized you have a 62, I think the fan is the same as 60 series, but don't know for sure.
well i had something wrong in the wiring or somewhere.could not seem to find it so i wird it to the ac switch were i can turn it on and of at will, being i know longer have ac.works great and does make a big difference in the heat of the day.thanks guys
That fan is designed to run when your truck is off. It is a carb cooling fan for 60's and a cooler for the manifolds/injectors on 62's. It should be wired to a sensor which is screwed into the exhaust manifold or intake manifold. When you turn your key to the off position you should hear the fan kick on. It doesn't do you any good to have it running while the truck is on since the main fan pulls much more air over the same area than the wimpy cooling fan on the driver's fender.
