4Runner went in last week and failed, rotors and pads, u-joint, parking brake (said front cable was frozen $235 parts and labor) I have that done except for freeing up the bell cranks (cable was fine) also needed a caliper as one piston was frozen.
Took the 40 in this morning, front pads, side marker lites, broken lug bolt, and a broken shock mount, broken taillight lense. Ordered the parts this morning and they should be in by 1.
Alot of little crap just hate dealing with it.
Ford ranger passed but they replaced the serpentine belt, so the $40 inspection turned into $165.
Grumble, grumble

Not to be rude Lane but it sounds like they are telling you that you need to keep better maintenance on you're vehicles. I usually spend a couple of hours going over my vehicles before I bring them in to make sure all the lights work no broken lenses or such.

You are absolutly right!
I'll put that new lense on for the inspection, then replace it with the bad one
before I wheel again.

I live in Mass, and have never been to a place that checked the serp belt. Do you go to a dealer for stickers?

Take it someplace else. I took my 55 to a toyota dealer and they failed me because my front bumper was too wide (A-holes) Everything else was perfect. Took it to the s***ty gas station down the street and the guy was afraid to drive it so he put the sticker on without even touching it.

Used to go to the guy around the corner, walk in he'd make up the sticker and I'd go home and put it on. Never should have moved!

Sorry about your troubles lane inspections are a real pita. My wife took the t-100 in for an inspection on her lunch break, guy failed it because of the muffler, ok fair enough there was a fist sized hole in it so I put a new one on and ran the end pipe the same way it was run stock and the idiot failed it because he said it was to close to the spare tire...dam do I wish I was there to give the guy a piece of my mind

So I took it 40 minutes away to the guy I usually go to and told him all about it he just laughed when he looked at it and said some people are way to picky and printed out my sticker and I tipped him $10 since well he passes the 4runner

Morel of the story is to find some who is not a nit picker and always give them a little tip ;)

I'm thinking next year to go to a little shop in town, specializes in Toyotas and Japanese vehicles. Seen a few Cruisers at his place over the years.
Hope he is a bit more liberal.
The Cruiser is all repaired except for a belt that needs replacing, the one they gave me is to long.
4Runner is almost there, I pulled one of the bellcranks this afternoon and have that all freed up, I'll try and get the other side done tomorrow and then get them both back in to get the stickers.
