Gentlemen,

I will be travelling to your fair state in about a week and a half for work, My wife wants to tag along and check out the Gulf Shores area while there. Is there anything we should see, visit or do while there?
Thanks for the info...

Kevin

If you like steamed seafood, check out the Steamer in downtown Gulf Shores-right behind Souvenir City (big shark head out front). There some hiking trails in the bon Secour Wildlife Refuge:

Alabama Hiking Trail Society

http://www.fws.gov/bonsecour/

There is a good put put place on the right when heading south just before you cross over the intercoastal waterway on the Gulf Shores parkway (not the toll bridge). If you like bars, check out the Flora Bama and the Pink Pony Pub. There is a huge outlet mall in Foley if she likes to shop and some neat little shops near the Perdido Pass bridge. The Perdido Pass restaurant has a nice view, but expensive food-not sure if it's still there though. You got the Battleship Alabama in Mobile and the Naval Museum in Pensecola.

Dang B! That was awesome! Ever thought of the tour guide bidness?

Yeah, I saw the promo for the "Mullet Toss" looks like fun but unfortunately will be a week late. As far as the other stuff, the only hiking my wife does is going from shop to shop so I may keep the outlet mall on the down low. Thanks for the heads up on the restaurants and bars, we will probably hit a few of those especially the Steamer.... Thanks for the info.....

Don't be scared away by the Steamer-it's a dive, but it's extremely good.

To EH, no homie I ain't no tour guide, but I did go to Gulf Shores every year for about 15 years with my folks.

Doc's oyster house back on Canal Road used to be good too for lunch, I don't know what is still there after the past few hurricanes. Flora-Bama is worth a trip even if you miss the Mullet Toss.

Doc's is still there and also a good choice-another dive that the locals eat at. I recommend the fried flounder at Docs.

The Warf in Orange Beach on Canal Road, shops, bars, food etc.... If you are a history buff, go to the end of Fort Morgan Rd. (22 miles) and take a look at the Civil War Era "Fort Morgan". You can eat lunch/dinner down there at Tacky Jacks Too, foods ok but view of Mobile Bay is great and beer is cold. You have to go to the Flora Bama once in your lifetime, even if you dont drink. Tacky Jacks (the original) in Orange Beach offers a great view of Perdido Bay, again cold beer, and if you get up early, go by and eat breakfast down stairs. I suggest a country omlete and bloody mary. Have fun, its a great place/area to visit.

x2 on the Oyster House. Their shrimp and grits are awesome. Also, right around the corner is Papa Roco's, if you are tired of seafood joints. Pizza, pasta, and raw oysters as well as a handful of blue hair cougars.

Are you going to be traveling just to Gulf Shores or other areas?

Well, after the work is done on Friday I'll have the rest of the weekend free and head back to San Antonio on Sunday. Want to see a few of the sites and divulge in the local eatery's while there. Sounds like I'm going to be stuffed when I leave!!! The trip to Ft. Morgan may be a definite also. Sounds like good times ahead.

Thx..

Thanks for all of the info guys. Steamers was good as well as the Oyster Bar. The wife got sick on friday so we laid low for the rest of the weekend but we had a great time otherwise.

Thanks again.....
