Love my 08 LC but the new redesigned QX 56 has caught my eye and I have inquired about it. Pluses and minuses to both vehicles but I am attracted by the more luxurious interior of the QX. Has anyone else compared the 2 vehicles? If anyone wants to flame me for even thinking about the QX please do but let me know why.

A major drawback of the QX is that it is not full time 4wd like the LC but rather it is a primarily rear wheel drive vehicle that shift power front to back once slippage is detected. This doesn't seem ideal to me as I would rather not be slipping in the first place and then waiting for the system to react.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

If you want a mall cruiser that you don't plan to keep long term the Infiniti is probably fine. The LC may not have as much interior Luxe as some of the other cars in it's class, but most people buy the LC for it's world class dependability and off road prowess. If you buy a new car every 3-5 years and don't go offroad much then the Infiniti is fine.

People like the legend and lore that surrounds the Land Cruiser, the Infiniti just doesn't have that.

Infiniti is made by Nissan, They are good cars, probably right behind Toyota and Honda, but long term their reliability is not as good. I don't know a whole lot about the Infinity but I would imagine it's off road prowess is more in line with the Toyota Sequoia.

10 years from now an Infiniti will look dated, LC's improve with age. You could still turn heads at the Oscars pulling up in a well cared for LC 60.

Reactive systems are not fun to drive.

As far as the interior, I have heard that from quite a few people. The LC interior seems more durable for the long haul. However I have heard over and over again about the Rover interiors, MB interiors, QX interiors. For 75k the LC interior really needs to step it up.

What about a LX570?

It all comes down to what you like and does not matter about others. I hope all you guys 200 start selling soon, I would like to have one at a decent price. ;<)

QX56 is like most other SUV's...is a better buy for most US shoppers. Big, comfy, gadget ridden, stylish...etc. Based on the Armada though it's been problematic since the series was released some years ago. Compared to Toyota SUV's the QX is similar as well though a step down in reliability and longevity.

A Land Cruiser is just that...a Land Cruiser. It's its own creation. In it's class it's once again the most reliable SUV made (like the last series was every year during it's life). When the LC is 8-years old it'll look and feel like a QX that's 3-years old. When the QX is shows it's wear and you need to trade the LC will still be like new and you will keep it unless you have cash to burn. Yes, you give up size and some other perks with the LC...what you gain is true value though.

Thanks for the responses so far. Much of what you guys have said is what I have been thinking, I am just being swayed by the perceived luxury of the QX. The Infiniti dealer seems anxious for me to go in and test drive one, maybe they are anxious for my trade............ Please keep chiming in on this thread, just wanted to say thanks.

One thing no one mentioned is the rarity of the LC. I live in the mountains west of Denver and I have seen quite a few QXs, only one 200 series LC. Nice to be unique, except when replacing the windshield:)

The QX's luxury is not "perceived". It is real. For me though the luxury of the 200 is more than I need let alone the LX or QX.

The 200 series LC import numbers are like 2500 a year. It is super rare in the states. I cannot wait to get a 200 one day for the 381 hp and 6 speed. Car dealers make all their money on used so yes they want you to trade, to low ball you on the trade and sell it for 6 to 8k higher on their used lot. The LC will be better in the long unless you just want the gadgets and will trade again in 3 years or so.

Whoa, my kind of guy asking that question on this site. The QX caught my attention too. I drug my SIL to Infiniti dealer. I just had to take a look. SIL informed me that if I bought one I could never see my daughter again! I countered he was out of the will, but he held firm! The interior is really nice. I think they have great curb appeal. In my opinion, apples to apples would be the LX570. The LX570 and Infiniti guys wear RL Polo and head to the club. LC guys wear Wranglers and pull calves in -29 degree weather. You judge a man by the car he drives and the shoes(boots) he wears. I'm stickin with LC.

I love my LC even more now ..... :grinpimp:

Money Man is right.....Real men wear Redwings, build Buildings in -49 degree temps and definitely drive landcruisers. I have owned all of them but the 40 and 200. Soon to have a 200 in the stable though.

The new QX56 is pretty impressive!!
It's really nice and much larger inside than a 200. It's got a 7spd transmission and 400hp 5.6 V8.
It's true all wheel drive with tcase, limited slips and 4hi and 4lo- it is not just a rear wheel bias.

the QX is a reskinned Nissan Patrol.
The downside is it has IRS now but the underside looks fairly beefy.

If you want a lux 6 people mover, get the QX. It's got a more lux interior than the LC, I agree.
The 200 is tougher and more durable and better for offroad travel.

Honestly, I think the LX570 is the best of the three.

I will admit, that is a pretty sharp interior on the Infiniti. Perhaps a bit "Cadillac" for my taste but pretty sharp.

The outside however looks like they've taken some design clues from an LC, then blinged it out with unnecessary curves, vent ports and crome.

I'm in the 100 forum mostly, well because I have a 100. Over and over again on the forum I hear stories how teens are inheriting their parents 10 or 11 year old 100 series. It's great to hear that these cars have such a long life with their original owners, then wind up with another long life with their teenage kids. It's a generational vehicle.

You figure the LC300 will be out in 4-ish years and I'll be able to own one in 10-ish years. I've got infants now, the LC300 will be their first car when they start driving.

The 80 and the 100 both ran for 10 years, do you think that the 200 will be less?

80 ran only 7-years.

100 ran 10-years.

I would expect the 200 to run for 10 as I doubt we'll see many mandatory design changes dictated to automakers.
