Been looking for a landcruiser for about a year and a half. Finally made an account about a year ago here after I was well into my search. Learned a lot about the LC's before making my decision. I was all over the place on what year to get depending on the day. Finally decided I just wanted a clean maintained low mileage LC100, year didn't matter, though it would have to be a great deal not to get a 5 speed. Even dabbled with a 200, but couldn't justify the extra $$$, and the body styling of the 100 was preferred. After missing out on a few that met the requirements (lost out to a few people on here I noticed as the LC would show up on here being talked about by a happy new owner). The good ones go fast.

Found me a 2003 with 90k miles with a stack of maintenance records and the 90k service done. It's in great shape and couldn't be happier, though I sometimes have flashbacks to a Commodore 64 with the touchscreen. The only problems I've been having is it's in to good of shape, so my Lab hasn't seen the inside of it, and my wife really likes it, and she wants to drive it.

Anyways, thought I would finally check in since I've been covertly soaking up the Mud knowledge over the years, but had spent more time in the blue room with my FJC.

Though I'd like bigger tires, the ones on it have maybe 2k miles on them so, no plans right now but drive it. Oh, and get Bluetooth for it, leaning towards the BT45-Toy, new floor mats and a backup cam. But that's it, for now. But till then I'm dusting off my CD's I never threw away that are scattered in closets thru the house and remembering how to use a disc changer. Old school rules, I even listened to a cassette that's been sitting in my garage for 15-20 years, and it didn't get eaten.

Someone has to be the voice of fiscal shenanigans here...

Go buy the new tires you want and sell the old ones on Craigslist (while they're still newish). It's that or suffer for the next 30-50,000 miles waiting for the old set to wear out.

Congrats on the new rig.

Welcome! We'll be happy to help separate you from your money and it sounds like you have a solid platform to start with. Congrats on the good research up front too. Now to let your lab in to enjoy it too. Just get a good back seat or cargo area cover and go adventuring with that dog to interesting places.

congrats on the lc but...My german shepard has been in my back seat everyday for over a year and him being there JUST MAKES MY LIFE BETTER I work alone and from my truck some days he gets to roam jobsites and other days he stays in the truck for hours... yes there are some shedding issues BUT for the back seat I ordered a full finished cow hide that is about the same color leather as the seats.. it drapes over the back by plenty and fully covers the seat... I thought I'd put a couple large grommets in where the head rest posts are and keep it in place that way but haven't had the need it stays in place is easy to pull out and clean... I keep cups of water in the cup holders and he's happy to be there... the full leather hides are on ebay for about $100 mine was aircraft rated whatever that means...

Congrats bro!

I am also new to the LC world... Mine has a FEW more miles than yours, lol...

Get the tires you want. I know here on the East Coast used tires no matter what condition seem to be hot sellers on Craigslist.
Check out your local Cruiser club as there are plenty of great folks to help and answer questions and such.

Oh and before I forget! :moon:

Just realized I have not even taken a picture of my 100. Been on enough forums that even lifelong mall cruisers should get some picture love, though I still don't have any. It did happen though

I really need to do some research on some cargo mats, cargo enclosures and some back seat covers. The cow hide sounds interesting, be nice to be able to drape it over and remove it easily. I'll be doing some looking around what others have done.

Tires. I knew I would get advice to just do it, of course, but damn I'm feeling poor. But I agree I will keep thinking about it every time I drive. I will attempt to hang onto my senses and my $$$, maybe I'll just remove my running boards and that will make them look bigger, I can try and fool myself.

Thanks for the welcome

Ditch the running boards, all I ever "ran" with them was my ankle or shin. If I'm going to bark and ankle or shin, it should be on honest to goodness sliders ( while I've never needed sliders off-road in any of my rigs, it does help a lot to keep your neighbors polite in parking lots with their doors)

I want sliders so bad but am unsure what to do with my SE fender flares,
I removed the rear bumper yesterday to take a look at the cross member for the pintle location and the adhesive wasn't that bad in the rear flare area on the bumper...

I may just say to heck wit them and remove them come spring.

I am 6'4" and I have to step wide out of the rig to not hit my calves on the boards...
