Today I got a LX470. 1999, 93K miles, moonroof and integrated phone (seems outdated technology), in grey in and out, had two owners in the same town. Looks immaculate but I bought it from an Irarian running a corner lot so I've got my fingers crossed! Paid $21,000 which in my southern California market looks fair. Pick it up tommorow.

Must I now get one of thoses Avatar things?

Awesome Mike!

Good find! Hope it serves you well. There is a Independant Toyota shop in your area called Inland Trucks:

I've heard good things about them from a wheeling buddy who lives in Riverside.

Do you have service records to show if the timing belt and waterpump were replaced at 90,000 mi.? This is the recommended interval and a hot topic here.

And I'm sure the phone is outdated since it is 99 technology;)

$21,000 sounds like a good price.

Welcome!
good to have you on board!

One problem and I'll do a quick post on this as new thread. I did not check the complex computer controlled suspention as the car came with a months warranty and I thought I would have plenty of time to check it out. Now just before picking up the car I find the warranty is for drive chain only! How do I check the suspention is working as I know it is horribly expensive to fix?

Avatar optional but cruiser data in your sig will be helpful.

The owner's manual explains the AHC suspension but in a nut shell, 1) have all the doors closed 2) ignition key in the "on" position 3) be completely stopped. Then you can go "H" high and then "N" and then "L" low and then back to "N". After 30 seconds, check the AHC fluid level under the hood. The manual also says not to repeatedly press up and down, otherwise you could overheat the pumps.

The speed limit for "H" mode is 18mph. After you exceed that, it'll automatically revert back to "N"

I think I got that right.

There are actually 2 levels of high with AHC, as per page 194 in my manual for my 99 LX470, there is a High position and what is called Extra high which is only available when you put it in 4WD LOW, it says it goes 2.8 inches higher from normal. So I think its best to ensure you put your LX470 in 4WD LOW to make sure the AHC is in extra high mode.
