Identification Plates

[Finally Mine]

Anyone had any luck cleaning their VIN identification plates without scratching all the black paint off? If so whats the trick?

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for - but, Mine was absolutely coated with rattle can underliner so I soaked it in brake fluid overnight which loosened up the undercoating...I then used a steel wool pad to clean up the plate....It left undercoating in the grooves so I could read the information....Heres also the thread where I asked for help with mine...

I can recreate these tags. I'd just need a to scale copy of the plate and I could diamond engrave or laser engrave it. I've made them for a few differet airplanes and a couple of older cars (corvette, and some british car) Just PM me or email me at chet@besttrophiesandawards.com

legal? i think that's a key question - cool to have it made but I would check with your local DMV before you put it on your truck

I received a PM about that... so for your personal use only. You figure out your states laws before mounting on your vehicle. I just made one for an old Silverline Boat today.
