I was told they would be ready by the end of the month back in November. I wonder what the hold up is. What's up with the no spring option? Also, from my understanding they would bundle a suspension kit for the lc 200 with the total caos uca. Maybe if enough of us call them, they may offer us a special deal or at least put a package together for the ih8mud group.
I just added ICON struts and springs in the front and ICON shocks in the rear. I adjusted them for 2 inches of lift in front and pumped my rear air bags for 2 inches in the rear. I haven't been off road yet, but my experience in town is good.
Coming from an almost stock suspension, the differences are not that large. There is absolutely no tippy feeling from being two inches higher. The spring rate seems slightly firmer, but front and rear are still well matched.
Going over speed humps, shows the biggest difference. I thought stock was well damped but now it reminds me of a cat. There is no rebound at all and as soon as it lands it seems ready for more.
A few times when driving on fairly smooth dirt roads I got a strange feeling. I could hear I was on dirt but the ride was as steady as pavement.
Most of the time in town though the ride is close to stock. Just a little firmer and more connected to the road. Sway in turns is a bit better. Some small bumps seem to have less impact now.
The only concern I have is the positioning of the reservoirs on the rear shocks. They can be rotated with your hand, and can rotate by themselves over time. In some positions the right rear rubs against part of the rear suspension. If you look closely in my photo you can see where it rubbed off a bit of the ICON plastic label. Does anyone know if I need to keep these from rotating some how?
I passed on the TC UCAs for now because I only lifted 2 inches. I was concerned about CV joint longevity since I pull a heavy travel trailer. The UCAs would still be useful if they offered more suspension droop, but the TC web site does not mention this.
ICON charges $1350 for the two front struts and springs. The rear shocks are $399 each. They also sell "smooth" rear shocks without piggyback reservoirs for $299 each. I went with reservoirs since they have longer strokes. I don't know how much longer but both my front and rear both measured 1.25 inches longer than stock when fully extended before installation. The Coil Rite air bags were $125. Prices do not include installation.
I called ICON about the rear reservoir shocks rotating so that they hit the KDSS bar. They said to just rotate them to the proper position and tighten the nut and jam nut at the very top of the upper shock mount. Duh! I don' think I'm going to use that mechanic again.
Oso - you said you raised the rear and the front 2 inches. So do you still have the stock 1.5 - 2.0 inches of rake? Why did you not want to level your truck? I am planning on doing the same setup you did, front and back, but with out the airbags. Icon sells a rear spacer that they said lifts the rear by 1 inch.
You caught me FirstToyota, I actually only raised the rear about one inch. The rear was about 2 inches higher than the front to start with and is now .75 inches higher. This was measured from the fender openings directly above the hubs to the ground. It depends on where you measure though. The rear of my sliders is only .125 higher than the front and they are parallel to the chassis and rocker panel bottoms. Roof and windows are not parallel to the chassis or wheel openings. Wheel opening measurements seem to correspond to being level visually. I think the chassis bottom is more relevant to four wheeling.
Anyway I just got new tires and I think it looks great! I'll get you some pictures this weekend.
I hope someone can help me, I have a 2010 lc and had icon coilovers installed today but am having the leaning problem do to the shop not resetting the kdss system. Is there a way for me to do that after the install or did it need to happen before? Thanks in advace for your help
