I've been driving my 77 40 as a dd all summer. It runs very well a d almost always starts....I had one occasion where I let it sit for over a month and sprayed some carb cleaner in it. Some rust is starting to show through and reveal some s***ty body work, but overall it is very solid. I drove it to 7-11 today and say a pretty big sequence of drips comi g from under the engine bay....it was gas. I looked around and couldn't see where it was coming from and I haven't replicated since.

I also got underneath and see that it is leaking....oil dripping g from the skid plate? Area and maybe tranny....not a drip that I can see, but wet enough that it has clearly been dripping. I do not have deep pockets or skill to do anything myself.....where should I take it to get checked out and at least get a good look over?

Plenty of club members down that way who could look at it and help you out.
Oil near the oilpan skid plate is a sign of pin-holes that have rusted thru between the
skidplate and the pan. Replace the pan.
Gas leaks? old rubber lines maybe cracked, line going into the carb may be loose.
Gaskets on the carb may be leaking.
Good shops that will treat you well with out taking all your cash.
I use either Kina at NorthCountry Landcruisers up in Madison NH.
Or Poor Wally's over in Pownal VT.
Either one of these guys are top notch when it comes to Cruisers.

Wally or kina.

I can look it over.

Check the fuel pump. Could be a bad diaphragm.

Wally and Kina. Or since you plan to DD a 40 how about a FSM :hillbilly:

I can look at it and at least see if we can identify where the fuel is coming from. Fuel leaks are dangerous. Small oil leaks are less of an immediate issue but can cost more to fix. I'll see if Rick Smith is around and maybe bring him. He knows his way around a cruiser.

Don't procrastinate on the fuel leak. Not only is fuel highly flammable, but a common cause of fuel leaks is a bad fuel pump which can dump fuel into your oil and result in blowing your engine. Get it fixed.

Hey guys. Thank you for all the replies. I have been without wifi until now...other than work, and have been stuck to using my phone...I hate typing on it. Finally got our Internet lines fixed. I'm typically off on Wednesdays so if any of our free times seem to match up, I would love to meet up with one of you. My cell phone is 303.882.2150...text usually works best.

Thanks again,

Shawn
