I need a West-side mechanic (1 Viewer)

Somewhere around northern Glendale / Peoria would be ideal. I need at the very least, a rad flush and some cooling components replaced - at worst - my head gasket replaced. I found my rad full of sludge this morning and I'm not sure why.

Anyone? Bueller?

Try mi amigo Greg @ Sunwest Transmissions & Radiators (623) 842-0806; I've known him since grade school. Call him first and see if he can and will look at it. (He gives me a bunch of BS about LC's, and not wanting to work on them... I think he just loves to get me going tho.) He is at 63rd ave. & Northern which is right up from you. Tell him I referred you, he'll love that!

I'm 99% sure it's a blown head gasket I've got.

BTW, I drove by Shabangs and thought of you guys.

Not sure about if he would do the head gasket or not, but if he doesn't he will get you pointed in the direction of a reputable shop.

Let me know how it goes, and what he says. Also if you pass by Shabangs again and you see my white 62 out front, stop by and join us. Most of the wait staff knows us by name as well as the owner, plus it is kinda hard to miss a 6'1", big guy, with long brown hair, and usually sporting a well worn cowboy hat.

On the otherhand, I guess we could get Hj60 & Yafreaka, and maybe a few others together, and all meet up and you gals join us as well... you know kind of a planned gathering of sorts.

Good news! It's not a blown head gasket!!

I called Greg, but he was at lunch. So I called a couple other places. Kerry's said they would look at it right after work for free and give me an estimate.

The guy looked at it, and pressure-tested the block and head. He says that's a-ok. It just needs some cooling system work - a chemical flush, and some hoses n junk - most of which I have (lower hoses, t-stat, upper t-stat housing).

I was so relieved!! The estimate was RIDICULOUS ($25-$75 in labor for *each* hose) So my GF is gonna do that work next weekend I think. I need to order the bypass hoses and the heater hose from cdan.

Hey I think I saw your 62 in a nearby neighborhood. Do you have a CSC sticker on your rear window? We were cruising around looking at houses, and really liked that neighborhood!

This weekend we have a friend coming down and we're tubing the Salt River. Maybe next week we can get together after work, or some time next weekend.
