Hey guys, I just purchased a 92 Land Cruiser. I bought it with a slight knock in the engine. Couldn't find a used engine locally to swap out but found one in El Paso that I bought last week while I was there. It came from a 1988 with a claimed mileage of about 90k. A friend who lives there and does business with the yard I bought from trusts them so I feel good about the purchase. I'm looking for someone to swap the engines out for me. I have the know how but physically can't do the work. Any suggestions? I can use either a legit biz or someone who does side work as long as he is a known entity. Cash payment or even partial trade for some audio equipment. I have some vintage gear as well as a couple of pretty nice surround receivers (I sell on Ebay ID todos_santos). This is my first toyota 4wd. I've had a Samurai, Blazer, S10, Dodge D50, and various VW Bajas but it's been a few years since I've done the off-roading thing because of health issues and I'm looking forward to perhaps getting back into it. I will be driving to Baja (Cabo San Lucas/Todos Santos) for Christmas and am thinking of taking the TLC for some beach cruising and camping. I don't expect much in the way of gas mileage but think it will be much more comfortable than cruising in my Passat wagon with my two daughters. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!

Up in Chandler/Phoenix. I think I may have it worked out though. The truck is driveable but I don't think I'd want to drive it that far. Spent a few minutes on your site, some neat photos there. I'll have look some more when I have more time. Thanks for the offer though.

Thanks!

Let me know. He's good. Usually charges about $25-30/hour.

Wow, that would probably end up a bit cheaper than what I just worked out but unfortunately the distance creates too big of a problem. It looks like it's going to cost me about $800 when it's all said and done with a place here in Chandler that came recommended. I bought the truck for $2500 and got the engine for $700. So when its all said and done I'll have a decent stock Cruiser for about $4500 counting a couple other little fixes, hood struts, window motor, and other misc..

Awesome! $4500!

I'm going to have to keep an eye out for some used aftermarket accessories. I could use a roof rack for my Baja trip and would eventually like to add some bumpers and a lift. Anything new is not feasable but someone upgrading or owning stuff lying around gathering dust looking they'd let go on the cheap would be right up my alley. I've stashed the $$ for the Christmas trip and am going to San Diego for Thanksgiving so I don't have much to spare at the moment. Is there a thread on here or a site where AZ offroaders list thing for sale?
