$600 under MSRP? That doesn't seem to be much of a deal considering what the cost to build it is, and their invoice cost is, and that is the best they can do for a returning customer?

What Toyota Dealership is this?

I think I would see if they can try a little harder to "earn my business" as they say before I plunked any money down.

I always use Consumer's Report price index service and base my wheeling and dealing off of that information. While I don't think they are 100% accurate, I do think the price index figures are a pretty good guide. I then use that price and what my trade in is worth to figure out how good the deal is, before I ever set foot in the dealership.

I agree with the poster that suggested $2500 off MSRP. That would be a good place to start negotiating the difference between trade and purchase.

Good luck getting a "deal" on a 2008 LC/LX. Especially within the first six months of it being available. The dealers will try to make you feel "lucky to even be getting one" and "there is someone right behind you willing to pay for one right now." This dog and pony show is pretty commonplace so, if you are wanting anything remotely close to a deal, don't even approach a salesman the first six months of availability. Then again, one persons deal might be another's pocket change..... :bang:

the $600 off is an LX570---not a Toyota Land Cruiser.
If you see previous posts, some dealers posts on Lexus forums also, most dealers are sold out for months, and all have been at strict msrp.

Okay, I guess I would just wait a little bit until after the 1st kid on the block syndrome dies down. I just remember people going out and spending a fortune on new Miatas, New Beetles, PT Cruisers etc. and paying way too much. Then about 6 months later, the dealers started dealing on them because they were moving slower off the lots.

That returning customer stuff touches a nerve with me, a Toyota dealer gave me deal under that premise, which I thought was an okay deal at the time, until...I went to another Toyota dealer 90 miles away. They more than doubled the original deal and sold me a 4 Runner with more options on it.

Seeing as how it is new, I would agree Toyota and Lexus are not going to be in a dealing mood, kinda like they were when they came out with the 79 4x4 mini truck, they were not dealing, period.

Good luck with your purchase, I am just poor white trash and won't be able to afford a 2008 until 2016 when they are priced in my tax bracket. I think they are cool looking vehicles though. Make sure you post some pictures when you get it so we can live vicariously.

Sweet ride! However, does anyone think it resembles the new Highlander a little too much or is it just me? Regardless, I'll be in the hunt for a 100 series or a Lexus 470 soon enough.

Good luck with your order/purchase.

When I went to Toyota to trade my FJC in on a 100 series, the woman at the counter asked me why I didn't want a 200. I told her for one, I can't afford it. Two, everyone says it looks like a Highlander...... So she hands me a booklet with all the models on the back and says "It doesn't look like a Highlander to me"... The LC on the booklet was a 100 series. Man I felt like b i tch slapping her hahaha....:hillbilly:

Just saw a new LX this afternoon. It was black and my first thought was "boy, that really doesn't do very much for me." The front end was what I saw mostly and I definitely prefer the LC's "grill" much better. Sometimes first opinions are correct, sometimes not...The overall design of the 200 really does leave me , let's just say, "uninspired". I just have a hard time imagining paying that kind of money for something I am that emotionless about. I do like the LC better than I did when I first saw it, but that's really not saying too much. I just think they could have done a much better job on the exterior styling . I haven't totally ruled out getting one, but it doesn't look likely. :bang:

:frown:.........YAWN.......... :frown:

Exactly my feeling when I saw my first 08 LC; just blah, no personality, no character; just-----nothing; as you said; no emotion,
for either of them; particularly when you figure in the price.

My Dealer had one a couple weeks ago.I was buyer parts for my FJ. It does look better in person. If you had and ARB bumper and snorkel with rear bumper I think it would change the looks for all. I would need to sale my Suburban,FJ80 and my FJ Cruiser to afford one. LandCruiser not.

I remember the first time I saw the 100 in person it was beautiful, I look at it for one hour Thinking I have to get me one of this.
I saw the 200 last week at the dealer and the feeling wasn't the same. I'm sure is a awesome rig is a LC after all.
I don't thing I agree whit the Toyota's designers with making the land cruiser look like the Highlander's big brother
