Gday
My 90 3f troopy developed a backfire so upon investigation, noticed the dizzy cap and button was worn so replaced with spare parts (not new)

Now it's hard to start, won't idle and backfires front and back.
I've checked plug order, cap and button 20 times, even put old stuff back in.
Checked timing, best I could as its almost impossible to see timing marks and the rotor button is pointing towards cylinder 1.
WTF HAVE I DONE!
It's been running without problems for the most part.

Couple months ago I did:
Fuel filter
All oils
Oil filter
Air filter
Plugs
Leads
Headers
Exhaust
Valve clearance

Please any help would be appreciated

OK have some more info and pictures
Firstly I think the timing wasn't too bad... I blame the help lol.
Yesterday as I was pulling into my driveway the car had a huge backfire from exhaust and it felt under powered and missing. I let it cool then looked at the dizzy.
Today
Upon investigation both caps have scratches all over cap internationals.
I pulled the distributor and gave it a clean up.
The driven gear has wearing marks, the shaft is gouged and the cam is seized to the governor shaft, the cam cut out and governor stop pin don't align with the drill mark as per service manual. The sleeve where dizzy go's in is rough.

The dizzy with black pitted shaft is my spare and I think is otherwise good.
Still have no idea what's happened??????

I assume a 3F?

Please give us more information.

This is a US-based forum and you are from Oz. We never received 90% of the awesome trucks you received.

It would help to put a signature in your profile that alerts us to the fact that you aren’t from the US/North America and gives us some understanding of what market/year/iteration LC we are dealing with.

Ideally, you provide a frame number or data plate picture.

Sorry mate I'm new to forums and im still working things out.
Yes 1990 troop carrier 3F

OK! So there's a few things going on here. new dizzy in now.
I've been going over and over the engine and ignition timing thinking something had to be out, so a lot of turning over by hand. Yesterday I lost compression across all 6 cylinders and found cylinder 6 wet, so i checked the carb bowl and it was at the bottom of the pv and the manifold is very wet. Checked the engine oil and its full of fuel. so started pulling out the carby and found the value seat didn't have a gasket as recommended by FSM. Thinking the fuel was able to pass the value causing over fueling. Also noticed the tank was under an abnormal amount of vacuum pressure.

I had the father in-law give me a hand today.
We changed the oil, carb back on, went over the valves (couple were out) had another look at the timing, I had the dizzy a couple teeth out and wrong lead on 2 cylinders (I've had them off a few times and mixed them up) adjusted the points
Put some oil in cylinders then turned it over a couple times... still no compression.
Father in-law advised to borrow a compressor and plumb up to cylinders so I can try hear or feel where the air is passing, valves or rings

Any other recommendations would be appreciated.
I'm having a pretty hard time with this thing.

Thank you
