Most hy steer kits come with a new tie rod and drag link + rod ends. the reason they come with new rod ends is because they up grade to FJ80 rod ends. FJ80 rod ends are much cheaper to to replace and beefier.
If you want to go cheap and mod the stuff you already have give W a call Our Services he heats and bends your arms for soa. I had him do a set on my FJ40 years ago and have never had a problem.

A plus with Marlins kit is you get a new pitman arm that's about an inch taller then stock(helps to keep the springs from hitting the draglink)
brakes and steering is the last place you want to cut corners.

cutting corners is never an option I was just wondering as my rods and ends are still tight, I saw you can get just the arms and was wondering if they would bolt up? Sounds like getting the whole kit is the easiest though which sounds good to me.

In what way are the 80 ends superior to 60 ends. I've seen far more failures in 80 ends because of the notched out piece by the taper. They are both 23 mm
thread. The taper is a bit larger but it seems to be negated by the weak point before the ball joint.

If you think the 60 ends are better make your own kit, have it tested and sell them yourself. Because you obviously know more then Jon Bundrant, Marlin Czajkowski, Brian ellinger(sp), Bud Rosenberger, etc...
