hey guys. very cool community y'all have here. sorry for the new thread, but new to the forums and just thought i'd just say hi. so there it is

Welcome. Glad you found us.

We are pretty familar here.. 1st names and all.

I'm Greg Thompson... and I'm a cruiserholic. 89 FJ62 that I could never sell for what I have put into it.

Also, if you would like to get emails updating you on when we meet and such send me your email address euclid42@hotmail.com.

in that case, i'm JR

ironically, i'm cruiser-less, but patiently lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce. thus far all have had too many miles, were too far away to confirm what shape they were in, or were being sold by Bob, the used car salesman, who frighteningly lacked any credible knowledge of the vehicles history (no offense to anyone named Bob, or used car salesman).

Greg- sent you email address. thanks again

Welcome Jonthan! We will find you a rig if that's what you want. What are you looking for?

Later,

Yep, we would love to help you find a truck. Between all of us there aren't many cruisers for sale in the deep south that we havn't already looked at.

So what's the search? An FJ62? I'm kinda partial.

I've been leaving business cards with club info and "when you decide to sell, give me a call" for a few years now. You just missed a Hattiesburg Doc's wife's '93 FZJ80. Beautiful clean truck! He essentially gave it to a friend who lost everything on the coast. There will be more. I'll keep y'all posted if anything turns up.

Welcome Jonathan. My advice is just don't settle. I waited close to two years before Bodean found my FJ-40. I was actually deployed at the time. He even drove out to Dallas and picked her up while I was gone. Nothing better than coming home to that. We'll keep our collective ear to the ground for you.

Greg, Jeff, Lash, Tony thanks tons for the warm welcome (really an odd thing on a forum). and while i hadn't set out to whore any help finding a rig, i sure as hell won't turn it down! if nothing else, maybe i can tell y'all what i need and maybe y'all can give me some adive or steer me in the right direction.

essentially (or maybe boringly) right now i need a reliable DD- i was thinking an 80, maybe a '95 or later. I had my heart set on a FJ62 when i first started looking Greg, but honestly i don't yet have the knowledge (think mechanical virgin) or the time (work 70+ hrs a week) for the assumed neccessary upkeep. and over the next few years, plan on it evolving into a rig built solely for saturdays and dirt. i thought maybe getting a later model in good shape would provide me an opprotunity to understand how to care for these vehicles, but not be so steep a learning curve that i couldn't handle it. am i close, or way of target?

glad you said it. will certainly be taking this to heart.

Welcome,

I've been descending into the rabbit hole of fj60 stewardship for a little over a year now. I picked up a less expensive one with lots of issues and am having the time my life getting to know and repair it. (after some helpful prodding from Greg....:) )

Come hang out in Jackson sometime.

thanks bud. that'd be great jr@mchughlawgroup.com

Yep, it belongs to an active member of ours here in Jackson. Good friend of mine. I have done some work on it.

The real OME isn't available anymore, and this truck has it. Rebuilt transmission, rebuilt front axle, locker in the rear lots of other stuff. I think he has a bo bo on the front from the last ride.

A real buy if you ask me.

I really wish I was in the market for another 3FE, It'd be all over your wagon. I gotta save up for the FJ Cruiser as my DD though ....
