typing on tinny net book keys made for an elf so sorry for typos and on net books, the return makes browser go back .. anyone know the process to get a concealled permit in kings county. not much info on line...like how many classes, paperwork, and cost... next, i do not know a lot about handgubs. I want something that is small enough to fit in a pocket or small holster close to the body that cannot be sean very easy...don't want a giant bulge......maybe a 32? I lliked that video posted with the holster that fits in pocket.........I don't care if it is preowned, but larger than a 22 and cost cannot be over a 100 to 200. any ideas or anyone have anything I might be interested in? I usually have a rifle or shot gub so hand gubs are new to me.

For one, you will not get a hand gun for 100-200 unles ther serial numbers are ground off. Also if you want a decent gun you are going to pay in the 400-500 range. My inside the waistband holster was $75 alone, you want something secure. As far as classes, I know the Visalia range has them from time to time. Contact Jerome, he has contacts. Take the class and turn in the app.

also tulare county is the easiest to get a concealled permit. i love my springfield XD 40 but for a good gun new your going to be paying anywhere from 500+.

http://www.gunbroker.com/ is a good site to see what guns are worth if your going to buy a used or new gun.

I wouldn't carry a gun that small, or cheap, you would be better off with a good quality knife- no permit required either, my favorites are the benchmade 520 or 710

Don't put a hand gun in your pocket you could shoot your man tool off I seen it on untold storys of the er .. The pocket and waistband tho cool on rap videos are not a good for the man tool unless your into stuff like that

Why do you need a gun?

All above posts are true

there are enough guns in the club you'll be safe...

If you got a few of us together let you handle and shot couple different guns see what fits u and what you like?

And know your gun and safe handleing of it before you start carrying it! We have two range masters Jerome and myself

If you do get a gun make sure you carry your bullet in your left front shirt pocket.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I want a permit for when I am traveling. I head up to stockton a lot and I have personal experiences from people I know about really bad stuff happening to them. One was a person who's car died and the robbery that took place they would not have made it, but CHP pulled up and the dudes took off.

I don't want to have one all the time, but there are times when it would be nice. It makes it a lot easier than throwing a gub on a dash or something like that so it isn't concealed..

As for price, I will up my limit.

Hey Dan...here's a vid with the 2 newer semi-auto CC pistols...They are around $300-$400...but you don't want to go super cheap when the highwaymen are coming for you...lol

I have had to go places in Stockton that require protection.

I play botchiball at a club just for Italian immagrants that is in an older part of town and they have had a few problems for people that had to park outside of the gate on busy nights. When I take Connor to see his grandparents, my dad and I go there at night. Good time to have one.

I am more concerned about getting the permit, then going from there. I looked at the gunbroker cite and there are 9mm that are under 200. Used and not pretty, but I am not a collector so as long as it works, all is good.

We're trying to tell you to buy a good gu# and learn how to use it, But it won't be cheap

Dan remember , if your buying it for the reasons you stated above( Connors safty/ your/ and family protection) and you said your not real comfortable / familiar with pistols! What's the price for safty? I bought my s&w sigma series( exactly like the glock) for $364 out the door about 97/98? I've shot the he'll out of the thing never had a jam.... Like everything else you get what you pay for don't buy junk period! Your or your families lives aren't worth it, also before you become John Wayne, shoot , shoot alot, various stances and shooting positions , learn retintion teqniques?learn to shoot on the move as well as stationary.....

Kings co use to be easy to get cwp you use to be able to say your persoal business had you carrying large amounts of cash... Bam you got one 9 outa 10 times..... Now with gun control laws ... And the comunist state we live in who knows?

WOW, did you open up a can of worms, but it's good.
First, go with an experienced person to a gub store that has a large selection, like Herb Gougers
set some peramiters, such as calbr, and $$$, and a good holster. Handle many gubs, relvolver&semi autos, and see what fits your hand and feels/points naturally. Rember this is your gub, and not anyone elses. What are your plans to do with the gub when it is not in use(carry), storage, etc. How will you carry this Rosco, and are you prepaired to dress around the gub/holster combo--summer/winter?
With the members in the club or assoc w/the club, go out and test drive as many different variations as possible, and the "RANGE" in Frsbrg will let you rent several different gubs at their facility.
Second, keep in mind that what ever action you choose(revolver/semi-auto)--neither is a bad choice---you will (hopefully never) have to operate this gub under low light, stress, increased heart rate, and at a fairly close distance. Research will be your best friend--as everyone will have several strong opinions on what to buy, what calb, bbl length, and make/model, etc.
General guide lines--- stay w/a major manufacturer(most have life warrtys), try to not buy anything less than 9mm--or--38spcl. I know this will start a "my calb is better that your calb, etc" But buy all means, don't go smaller that a 380. Arguments can be made for any calb, but look at what is cheap to buy practc ammo for.
gotta stop for now, but will post on CCW in Kings Co from pers experience later

Take a local saftey class, shoot alot like Hudy stated.
Research the aftermath of a shooting---we all prepair for the moment---but how do you avoid having to use your gub, are there other options(pepper spray)? Now, look at the legality of what you could be held liable for. I'm not a lawyer, and not up to date on the latest laws, but once you bust a cap that bullet has your name on it---even when it passes through your intended or unintended target, and sails through a wall, kids roon, neighbors window, etc. I don't want to sound like I'm discourageing you, in fact it is the opposite, but too many people might not think about before and after---just the during.

CCW in Kings county, all I can say is WOW
I had a CCW for over 7yrs in Merced Co, and moved to Hnf about the time for renewal.
if you live in the city, apply w/the city PD---live in the county, apply w/the KCSO
if the city says no(&you live in the city), then go apply w/the KCSO
i went to the local PD for renewal, knew the investagator, i'm related to PD's upper staff.
they said no---went to KCSO, they said they did'nt want to step on PD's toes and to go back and talk to them( I'll make a phone call for you)---yea right PD said no again, we don't give out "feel good permits" WTF? not an issue now---go figure. not sure what LPD's standards are, good luck.
Slickroc, brace yourself for a bunch of advice and heavy opinions. Hook up w/someone you trust for their advice. try to look at all of the factors that will be coming your way, and formulate your own ideas. you know there are alot resorces here w/ CVC and MUD.
PS, listen to HUDY

I'm with what Hudy and Flat said. Are you looking for something to keep in the car for protection or something to keep on you personally? If it's just the car thing you could always get a pistol and just take it with you in the case when you go to Stockton. Also like they said spend a little money on a gun and get something reliable.

I agree with Hudy...Cali gun laws are insanely over restrictive. Gun control laws are just political band aids,,,criminals are not getting their stuff from legit gun dealers and brokers for the most part. I was watching a video today called Fresno Uncencored...imagine Girls Gone Wild with Gang members. These guys were waving sawed off shotguns, full auto AK's with barrel magazines and all kinds of auto pistols.

I know how to use guns and I have shot them and owned them all my life. I am a pretty good shot too but I have not had been into them since my son was born. Wife freaked out about gubs (gotta say gubs so filters do not go ding ding at work) in the house when my son was born. She has since realized it was a new mom's insecurities. I have two at home, one for home security (big spray pattern) and another that is not acceptable for anything but plinking at cans camping.

Also, just because something is cheap does not mean it is not good. Look at that beautiful tubed truck with the best sounding 22re in history that one of our upstanding members purchased last year. It was "cheap" for what it is worth but is great quality.

I am and always will be about the deals.... but I am taking what is being said into account and I am patient. I am in no real hurry.

Nice info and ammo is a consideration. A friend bought a 357 and he could never go to the range because the cost of shells was so high. He sold it soon after he realized he bought it for the "size" and obviously was compensating for something less large he was concerned about.
