I have a set of 16" aluminum triple double Tacoma wheels that I want to clean up and paint to go on my pickup. The wheels are in good shape with the exception of one that has a pretty good scratch/ gouge in it and I am wondering what is the best way to fix it. As I mentioned, I am going to be painting them so adding some filler to them wouldn't be a big deal, but I am not sure if I can use filler on something like a wheel where it will have all that centrifugal force on it. There is a repair shop that I might could take it to to have the aluminum fill welded but was hoping to keep the cost down and wasn't sure what putting heat into the spoke would do to the strength of the wheel. My other option would be to look for a couple spare wheels that I could buy and just sell the bad wheel or use it as a spare.

Thoughts??

Thanks,

Matthew

Go steel, that's how you fix a aluminum wheel! :)

If you use the rustoleum wheel paint it is super thick and fills in sraps and gouges very well.

Lays down great but just 3 colors to chose from.

I like my wheels like henry ford.

Thanks for the replies, but this is a pretty good gouge probably a 1/4" deep and maybe that wide at the top and is probably 3" long so I'm going to need to either rebuild it or fill it. I've been looking for an extra wheel but i would like to use this one if i can.
