Well since someone asked.
Sheri and I moved up to NH in 2000 to follow a submarine being worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. This was also my first involvment with Yankee Toys. At that time, we decided that we wanted to set roots here when I retired and how great it would be to get a job at a Seabrook Station.
2007...I import the HJ-45 and have Cruiser Solutions do some restoration work to the rear end. Since then, I visit Tedd once every six months to see his projects, talk Cruisers, and just hang out. Colin goes with me most times.
2009. An engineer from Seabrook spots Tedd's troopy at a kid's baseball game. He has Tedd do some work on his 4runner and Tedd mentions that he know a Navy guy about to retire and wants to get into the power plant. Tedd forwards me his contact info...I email him my resume.... He takes it to the Superintendent of the shop. He takes it to HR. They post the opening. I apply through regular channels. I interview, and receive my offer in October.
I retired from the Navy Nov 30th, 2009 and started work December 1st. I am very appreciative to Tedd Brown and my new company for THE perfect military to civilian transition in the worst economic circumstances. And that is how my HJ-45, Yankee Toys, and Cruiser Solutions helped me get my dream job...since someone asked.
