All the recent talk about primers has me wondering how much I will need to prime my 40. Since there is some old body work I need to re-do I plan on stripping everything to metal, so I will need to prime the tub, doors, hood, fenders, the sides for the hard top, etc.

I'm planning on using epoxy primer, but the stuff is stupidly expensive and want to know how much I should plan on purchasing.

Thanks,
Brian

I've used just about every type of primer under the sun these past 15+ years of working autobody, but the past couple of years I got turned onto Montana Big Sky primers. They are alot less expensive than PPG, RM etc. and hold up just as good if you ask me. You can get them off of ebay shipped to your door. The good thing about there epoxy system is that the mix ratio is 1:1 which gives you 2 gallons per kit. Costs $125 which is alot cheaper than PPG's DP line which is over $160 in my area and only gives you a gallon and a quart since the mix ratio is 4:1. The stuff flows really nice with good coverage. 2 gallons will be way more than enough to do a 40.
