How many Gallons for one coat of paint?

Just wondering how many gallons to cover one coat of paint on the exterior of FJ60 (including taking the front clip apart and spraying the pieces, individually)?

I'll be using an HVLP paint gun.

It depends on the color for one and also depends on what you're going over. Are you planning on using Basecoat/clearcoat or are you using single stage. Is it all one color or is it two tone like many of the FJ60's. More information would probably be required to give you a fair guesstimate on how much material you'd need. You didn't say if you were planning on doing the roof as well??

Is the vehicle currently in primer, will you be priming it first or is your intention to go directly over the OEM finish that has been sanded (probably the worst choice). All of these things play a role in how much actual color you'll need, so provide a few more details and I'll be happy to share what I've discovered.

Never painted a car that only required one coat of paint. If you want to know how much, you will need to give some more details like the other poster said.

I am planing on painting only the outside of my FJ 60 and was told that 3 quarts will be enough but just to buy a gallon ( then i have some left for later repairs) of single stage enamel.....

needs to be 10 mill wet which can be as much as 7 coats but in the real world 5 costs is enough(around 6 mills wet) is fine and like the other poster said ............all of those things need to be considered. Try the one gallon but if you are doing door jambs its possible you may need another quart?
