Do you have both my 61s, my 62 titled as 63 and I have a earier 62 tub that the VIN plate from the cruiser is probably attached to a $100K Icon by now? I only know the VIN because a old insurance card was in the glove box. Do you have the 61 that Reddingcruiser parted out? It was one or two higher VIN that the one JP found in CO.

Also have a 68, 70, 73, 76, 79 and pieces of a 82.

I will have to pm him later to find out what's what

Ige is right, the 1961 (VIN 421) was in the Salida, CO junkyard.

I owned at on time 3 1962's. I sold one a while back, one has been parted out, and I have one I am currently restoring.

So don't know if you want to count that as 2 or 3 since one is really just a bare frame at this point and won't be coming back to life.

HTH

I'll try to get you my VINs soon

I have updated the 1-fj40-10182 as in (Classic Cruisers graveyard) ... so the 421 is a bone yard as well?

vins would be great... or even partial vins to get a count

Yep, both in the same grave yard.

I spotted 421 back in the spring of '07, it wasn't there when I went back two years later, some on bought it to restore I believe. It was a FST with original doors and bows.

182 was in the yard this past summer when I passed through, I believe it had been brought from down in New Mexico somewhere

I thought the one in Salida was 1FJ40~10182 or 1FJ40~10183. I know it's not 421, 10421 maybe. In the other oldest thread someone mentioned seeing one in the 8000 range. I think it was sitting in a field being used as a dam in stream. I am curious what is the highest 61 VIN and the 62 lowest VIN. Seems the 62 range in around 4,000 vehicles. For the 61 to be close it would have to go back further than 10001. But saying I saw one in a field with nothing else like pictures not sure I'm buying it. While I haven't seen the early 61 soft top VIN plate I have seen pictures of the vehicle when he was trying to sell it. So we know it's a real vehicle.

Maybe someday I will see if I can savage the frame on 10202. Back end is pretty rusted. While not the oldest it does have the complete running gear intact. Maybe worth restoring.:meh:

The one I was thinking about is listed here 1FJ40~10182. https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/68576-who-has-oldest-earliest-fj40-faq-4.html Reddingcruiser parted out 1FJ4010183.

Have you tried contacting husker? in his post in here he says he has a 61 FJ40 with 18K miles. His first of seven posts was trying to sell it. https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-club/551395-i-saw-you-heading-west-i-40-a.html

There was also a 61 being parted out in CA. Guy was getting parts from the junk yard and selling. Can't find the thread but he was getting a hard time about his prices. I did trade him and get a few things. Thought that one was in the 10400 range. I'll keep searching for the thread.

I do not think mine is on there 1962 (mfg 1961) VIn 1FJ4012823 FST. I would love to know how many FJ40 FST's with the fj25 shaped door openings are around.

So yours is a 61 and would be 2823 off the line in 61. By the number on 62s this makes sense that Toyota did in fact start at 10001.

Here is the other 61 FJ40 I mentioned being parted out. https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-group/585016-1961-fj40-junk-yard-what-shame.html VIN 1FJ40~10433. Thought I remember it had a 400 range VIN. Not to bad for a old bald fat man. :bang:

1FJ4010447 still resides somewhere in PA?, had contact with him recently.

1FJ4010447.webp

1FJ4010938 I believe is still in the boneyard in Palmer, MA.

1FJ4010938 (5).webp
