Not doing as good yesterday or today, or the next few days because I’m missing out on the Pig Party in Idaho. The reason : work. The plant has run non-stop all year, and they decided to schedule an outage right at the same time as the party. Every major job during the outage requires a crane operator, and I’m one of three. Spent yesterday swinging the 59ft jib on our 5160 Grove.

That last pic is a pano shot to fit the 220’ boom.

Speaking of cab air filters, I wanted to share these pics of dealing with a later model Ford F-350 without the filter. The employee that drives the truck was complaining that there was no volume of air blowing out the vents even though the blower could be heard on high speed. Had to pull the dash back, take the top cover off of the evaporator core and blow it out with compressed air. Dusty air sucked into the cab while selected to “fresh” plugged the fins and wouldn’t allow much air to pass. Bottom pic is getting at the inside screw on the blower motor mount - PITA!

Just a quick check in to mark myself safe from the Fork fire. Nothing like midnight wake up call from the Sheriff for "mandatory" evac. Mandatory isn't really mandatory but once you leave an area, you aren't allowed back in until the evac is lifted.

Here is a picture of the flight path of one of the water planes was circling over the fire:

There are actually three planes in the area: two water and one spotter.

Marked on the map is near where I'm at and Stumpy Meadows. The fire is currently smoldering at about 10 miles away as the crow flies.

El Dorado is in Riverside. Probably 2-3 hours north. My Boss was hiking one of the mountains when it started and he cut his hike short when the smoke started coming up over them.

The Valley Fire is in Alpine pretty close to the MX boarder.

Hopefully you can keep yourself and your projects safe! Don't need another Phoenix resurrection thread!
My property is reasonably safe from a fire standpoint... at least for being in the forest ;) One cruiser was on a reasonably barren shop pad so somewhat safe.

Trail55 was packed and ready to rock out. Chain saw was in the back. Amazing how quick you can scour a house and grab stuff in ~30 minutes "un-prepared" :p

The sucky thing is having PGE shut the power down and a fire starts up down the road with minimal ability for communications  I'm very thankful I am in a county with a VERY cool sheriff.

Glad to hear you guys are safe.

10 miles @Lil'John - that is WAY too close.

2020 is just not getting any better...
Sounds closer than it is ;) An added "bonus" is the King fire left a pretty good scar that stalled Fork fire from coming this way.

The smoke has been "minimal" as has the ash ;) I've been monitoring those as my 'time to boggy" metric.

Pray you never get the midnight sheriff door pound. Nothing like being groggy and getting told "mandatory evac, are you leaving?" :meh:

Well I guess it's a good thing I changed my location from Riyadh and Gulf Shores to Riyadh and Auburn........unfortunately we still have a condo there. Hopefully it's not as bad as it looks.
