man that sucks. I have thought about getting flood insurance for that reason even though I am not in a flood zone.

Any fish in there? Your living room. Not the ditch. Sucks to hear and see.

The Flood insurance we have will cover if the house is destroyed or lifted off it's foundation.

For just water damage caused by a flood, I would have to get a specific Flood Insurance policy.

The Mrs is reading the Home Owners policy to see what that covers.

Are you sure you aren't mistaking homeowners not covering water damage. Most homeowners insurance policies will cover water damage from busted pipes, lines, clogged s***ters, ect., but will not cover water damage from natural floods. Flood insurance is a separate policy which most people don't have. You should be in flood zone x which is a 100 year flood plain. If you have the separate FEMA flood policy, then you are getting your prostate checked and the doc has one hand on each shoulder by your insurance company.

That sounds right. The Mrs spoke to the insurance agent while I was wearing chest waders and digging a big Wheel out of a culvert tube.

I would delete all these pictures on this thread, stick a bunch of tighty whiteys down the s***ter and flush it about 100 times. Then pay your deductible. Problem solved.

You were 100% correct. Our Home Owner policy covers flood if the water originated inside the house. backed up septic, burst water pipe, hot water heater leaked, etc.

We do not have the Flood specific insurance that covers water damage caused by an act of god or an act of nature.

Top picture is the water flowing in the ditch in front of the house.

Middle Picture is the neighbors fence. Water is at the bottom board.

Bottom picture is the river that was flowing through the back yard.

You may have to sue the neighbour and get their insurance company to pay for the damages.

Either way, pull the carpet, throw out the underlay and get a lot of air moving through the house. ASAP

Sounds like your generosity to all has come back in your time of need Dan.
