Hi guys
I noticed that the whole plastic center panel between the front seats of my newly purchased FZJ was getting warm, even hot after some miles on the freeway:confused:. I even had to turn the A/C on as the heat was getting kind of uncomfortable. I had been driving around 70+ mph for quite a long time (Palm Springs to downtown LA), and the outside temp was around 65°F.
Might the gearbox be overheating? Got no alarm light, no leak, no smell whatsoever, only a ECL Code 28 (oxygen sensors) which I'm in the process to fix. Dunno if it can be related, neither. Thanks for your help. Cheers. Grolar

Normal, esp. for the 93-94 models with the older tranny. Just make sure your tranny fluid is at the proper level / condition and you'll be fine.

Kinda like heated seats, just all the time. Some folks have put down some matting to help out with this, but as stated above, ensure things are filled properly and then consider it normal.

It's normal on mine too (1997). Think of it as a "Toyota Coffee Warmer" ;)

Just be sure all 4 of your tires have the same tread depth. Some former owners like to replace tires 2 at a time. Big no-no.

Just think of it as an engineered-in "panty dropper". The heat is normal. I have people ask me all the time if the heater is ON? Even though the AC is on full blast. It is a blessing in disguise, right?
