"Need to", no. If it hasn't been replaced in the last year or so I would replace it while the system is drained. The factory thermostat is a much better unit than you will find aftermarket.

Nah I talked with himn tonight & he's now planning to visit the toyota parts department in the morning to pick up the thremostat
