I know that a few of you ride old CB/CLs. I am going to look at a CB 450 tomorrow and was looking for recommendations on sourcing parts. Anyone that has been a good vendor and let me know who you have had problems with. The one I am going to look at is a basket case. If I get it, I am going to strip it down and start frame up.

I seem to be able to find plenty of info on the four cyl bikes(like SOHC/4.net). The bikes I am looking at are twin DOHCs. Probably going to buy a 71 CB450 today. Hopefully it looks as good in person as it did online.

Jman has an old CB. I'd shoot him a pm.

I know that he has found stuff for it, but I think it was via ebay.

I will do that. I am having a hard time finding a decent bike to start with. I am going to look at a cl360 and a cb550 this weekend.

Just saw this. So far, I've been getting parts for my CL350 from a combination of Honda, ThumperTalk, E-Bay, and aftermarket suppliers. I am not doing a frameup, just getting it in good functional shape so that it doesn't leave me stranded. :) Mine was in pretty good condition, even though it needs some TLC.

There are a few bulletin boards out there that are pretty good. I'm on the Honda Twins site mostly.

Good luck. If you pick one up, post pics.

Going to pick up a 71 cb450 tonight. I went and looked at it a couple of weeks ago and the guy wanted way too much for it. I am paying half of his original asking price. It is a bit of a basket case. It is missing a few pieces (seat, one side cover, turn signals). That doesn't bother me. I am going to make a cafe racer out of it. I didn't want to start with a nice bike and cut it up.

Dude, just found this site this morning: Charlie's Place, San Francisco

Hey, if you are replacing your handlebar switches, can I have your right-hand switch? The one with the starter button? I need to swap mine out for a later model one that has the brake light doohickey built into it. :)

I will let you know if I decide to swap them out.

I found BB the other day and looks like it could be a good source.

Well I finally had a little time last night to start working on it. I pulled the harness out and and everything looks good out side of the battery cables. Pulled the carbs and opened up the fuel bowls. Apparently when it was parked the owner decided to drain the fuel bowls. Now time to go through the ignition and change the fluids. Might be able to start it this weekend.
