HJ60 Radio - 24 Volt?

I have an HJ60 and the radio face is missing. I'd like to replace it. did the 24 volt cruisers come with a special 24 volt radio or does it use a 12 volt radio? I've been told both. My Cruiser came from Germany. Thanks, Navcruiser

They used a 24v~12v. power converter that fed the stereo, which is a 12v. unit.

but usually this unit will have failed by now. (never heard of one still working) However the radios seem to keep working even though they are labeled as 12v. I think I still have my original radio and speakers around somewhere...

install a 24 -> 12 converter and install whatever stereo you like. Converters made for stereos have a wire to allow for maintaining the memory when everything is off.

Anyone know where that stock 24-12V converter is located? Is it oin the engione compartment or under dash? What does it look like? And where the fuse is normally found?

You'll find it in the left fender inner upper apron area. It's about 2"x2"x4", aluminum and finned for cooling.

I managed to get my hands on one of these 24volt radios. Very happy with the sound quality. All around it's a two thumbs up.

Where did you buy it? I am planning on a HAM radio so this would save some amps for that.
