FOR SALE - Toyota HJ45 2H 6-cylinder diesel engine and 5-speed manual transmission $4900 here in Portland, OR - Genuine 90K miles on them, run and operate great. Perfect to convert your Landcruiser to diesel like an HJ40, HJ60 etc etc. I just bought these in the UK and they are on the way to the US now, I import engines every month, check my blog for more diesel engines and toyota Landcruiser/ Land Rover stuff here : http://laughsandlashings.blogspot.com/ email me direct at zombiemotors@earthlink.net

Dang man, you definitely found the right place to advertise for factory LC diesel engines. Someday I hope to do a diesel conversion, either a 2h or 12-HT with a five speed. To bad I can't purchase this right now because that is a good price, especially for one with that low of miles. I would hope that you'd keep importing these motors because they are hard to come by and there are a lot of people here interested in doing diesel conversions. Best of luck! And welcome to MUD!!

Hello- I am currently in need of a engine and possibly a new tranny for my FJ62. Right now it is a automatic. I wanted to improve the horsepower and zip so I have been interested in a 5.3L Vortec, but it turns out I would also need a GM Tranny as well (costly!) - I am curious to what the Toyota HJ45 2H 6-cylinder diesel engine would do for me? Could you advise?

The "P" word.

Honestly, if you are looking for ZIP forget about a 2H, even with a turbo. They are tough, reliable engines but, to them the "P" word (power) has always been tabou.

A 2H will be great for a diesel swap if you're after better mileage and longevity as it is relatively cheap and easy to find.

I should know, I own and drive 2 LCs with 2Hs. My HJ47 is turboed while my HJ60 isn't. As I'm not after speed and HP, I'm very content with them.

If you're looking for power AND fuel economy, one of your best bet would be an HD-T but they're harder to find, more expensive and getting parts for them may be a bit more of an issue.

A 1-HZ, or a 12H-T are also good alternatives but they all are more expensive.

Good luck.
