History of CLC event: Land Cruiser Rally (2 Viewers)

I came across a budget estimate in the Sec folder from 2001, talking about annual budget and an event called the Land Cruiser Rally. Any veteran club members want to give their recollection of what it was, where it was, when it was, who was involved, and how it went into hibernation?

That's most likely referring to the rally in Denver sponsored by Rising Sun. The first one was in Aurora on 5/18/96. It was started almost single-handedly by one of the members up there, Mark Subczek (sp?-not even close; pronounced sub-check). I haven't been for a few years, but I believe it's always @ Jefferson County (Jeffco) stadium now. CLC usually had/has a presence at the rally. One year we bought a banner for the "booth". That might be what your budget item represents. Hope that helps.

I might just be an idiot, but. Last year my Wife & I could not find said Rally per " directions". Everyone we asked had no clue of that address or venue. Kind of a hike from Woodland Park. A contact # would have been great. Just sayin'
If my Wife could not find it......

@TwoSheds I don't know what happened last year...seem to recall that Rising Sun failed to secure the JoCo venue for some reason, and did not hold a "Rally" event. You can look it up on their forum if you're interested. Rising Sun 4x4 Club forum

by the way, do you know a guy in WP who owns a tan/champagne FJ60/62 named Don or Dan, or some three letter common name? I owe him $20 for a rear wiper motor...from the 2014 Rally. :doh:

The first Rising Sun Rally that I attended, with several other Colorado Land Cruiser members, was on 5-18-97. We did put on our own rally in the summer of 2001. It was at the New Life Church parking lot. The attendance was not that good, so that is probably why it was never repeated. I have several pictures of the event, mostly of the r.t.i. ramp that we set up.
