For those of you that love to target shoot here are a few steel targets made with scrap laying around the yard. This allows you to get lots of fun target practice without any of the mess that we have seen left out in the woods (see the trash in the background of the picture. Did not get it all but we did pick up a good portion of it). The target stand is made of 2" pipe with a few 1" and 1 1/2" pipe arms. The targets are made from leaf springs. The first one I made was all welded. I know spring steel does not weld well but it has held up to all handgun rounds from .22 to .50 cal. The welds have cracked some but still holding. So far up to .45 only removes paint without any damage. The .50 cal will leave a small dimple. The rest of the leaf spring targets were made without any welding to the leaves themselves.
The gold colored target is the bottom of an oxygen bottle and makes an awesome ring. The triangle stand was going to be the stand for the oxygen bottle but I found the plow disc stand more stable and taller. If anybody wants to try them out I am in Grants Pass.
Good luck and stay safe,
Mike
