Hi!
It has been suggested that I have a Series 80. All I know is that I bought a used 1994 Land Cruiser late last Fall, so I am beyond clueless. Anyway, the temp gage goes off the top end as soon as I engage ignition. Just precautionary, I replaced the thermostat, figuring it would probably lie in wait for me to not be able to sense a high temp problem and go bad on me (Paranoid? Delusional? Just too used to Murphy's Law running my life...). Anyone able to tell me 1) Where the heck the temp sensor is on the engine, and 2) Any basic tests I can run on the sensor and the gage to figure out which one, if either, have become possessed?
Also, it was just diagnosed with a bad a/c compressor - something that seems kind of good to have running in these here parts. They want something between $1,100 t $1,300 to replace (tracer dye leaking all around the seals). Can you folks weigh in on that figure?
btw, I cam down from Michigan a few months ago. With the snow, there was no problem at all justifying a max of 11 mpg. - there were times that I was one of the few vehicles that was able to handle the roads safely. But here... do y'all go hunting rattlers across some desert or something???
