I am considering going to this. Anyone else thinking about it ?

Anyone taking an 80 ?

I would be taking my 80 with Js-315s-factory locks.

Anyone done it recently in an 80 ?

Haven't done it in an 80, but my buddy used to take a full size dodge ramcharger through. He started out on 35's and switched to 37's. It has been about two years since he went through, but as far as width, you should be good to go. We even dragged Alia176's range rover through/over the trail when he had it with 245's on. Just make sure your lower control arms are beefed. Good luck.

hmm- seems not many in an 80 ?

full size Dodge fits ? huh. might have to go then.

If you are talking about the Cal4WD event "Sierra Trek" check their web site for vehicle regs for the SWB run to make sure you would qualify.

That trail has gotten a lot harder in just the past few years due to all the use by extreme rigs who were avoiding Rubicon.

If your 80 is a "nice rig" still and it is not set up "extreme" I would reconsider.

I did this run last year and it was a great event. You can always sign up for one of the less extreme runs and still have a great time.

Ya- this thing is real new to me. Not alot of experience with an 80. Wheeled the crap out of my Runner and Pick-up. If I still had the Runner I'd do this without thinking about it.

So you got 80 envy huh ? What does your Runner look like ?

Personally I would not take an 80 (my 80 at least) through Fordyce, I think that it is tighter and harder than the Rubicon and there are not many bypasses. I am sure that it can be done, but it would be difficult.

Pete's 4Runner is pretty built. It has dual cases, ARBs, 35s, flexy suspension, and a ton of other goodies. He doesn't have much trouble on most trails. There are photos of it on the High Rock Canyon Trip Report.

I would love to add an 80 as a second vehicle but it will be in the future $ $ $ :frown:

My previous rig was set up just like the one for sale in your sig. You're right it could do a trail like Fordyce but these days the high use trails are getting pretty beat up and the less set up we are the more of a beating we take.

Best advice would be to get some trail time in the 80 on other trails (Deer Valley, Slick Rock, etc).

Don't forget there are other trail runs on Sierra Trek and the event is well run.

sierra trek

what's the date? I might be able to tag along with my mini on the 29th and 30th of this month. I was thinking of hitting the con those days with the other half. I'll do sierra trek. As long as some one know's where there going. I don't...

let me know

ditto that is what I have been told. Much harder than the Rubicon becuase there are not bypasses and the 80 is wide. You could do the trail and most likely with less effort than others but you may pay for it in body damage.

The 80 does need some nice dents.

Plus it is now fenderless !!!!

depends on who's 80 you're talkin about. Yes I l;ike my fenders, however I think Sam likes them more than me. Dents typically in my mind are not an option, rather a casulty. A trail like fordyce pretty much ensurse the casulty for the 80.

Thanks for the options guys, looks like work is preventing me from having the ime to go anyway.

Next time ..........
