I was in a pinch this weekend. Working on some sliders. Burned up the blade on my dry cut metal saw. It's a British saw and the arbor is 1" for a 10" blade. I only had one other dull backup. So I was kinda screwed unless I could sharpen the blades myself. So I bought the HF blade sharpener for $50. It's kinda hokey. No question about that, but I gotta say, it worked. With a little time, I was able to sharpen the blades and they cut great. Not quite as good as new, but more than adequate. Good enough that I probably won't put the new one on when I get it and just keep it as a backup until I really need it. Since each blade is $50, it's already paid for it's self if I can get two sharpenings out of each blade.

The downside is that the slide mechanism is really flimsy and has a lot of play. The motor and sharpening disk slide on two rods. The slide bushings have a lot of play in them. I used a bungee to hold pressure so it would slide in one fixed position - worked OK. The blade holder is also kinda hokey, but can work as long as you're patient and don't put too much pressure on it.

It's really too bad they couldn't build a $100 version of this tool with higher quality. Could be great with better build quality. For what it is, it's just OK.

In a pinch, it will sharpen your blades. Haven't tried on wood blades yet though.
