Hesitation

So I just finished a ridiculous amount of body work (truck looks great, pics to come!) but now I've got a serious hesitation problem. I haven't driven the truck in three months and I replaced the fuel sender so I'm thinking I may have fouled something up in the fuel line. I saw recommendations for checking the fuel filter and EGR valve as well as the gas filter going into the carb. I also saw a recommendation to use a venting gas cap in case the charcaol cannister is plugged. What's the first thing that I should check - the first thing in the fuel system that would get clogged?

Under what conditions does the hesitation occur?

Could be stale gas.

Hesitation when the throttle is opened is usually due to a defect in the AP circuit.

Likely causes include:
plugged AP discharge jet
dirt in AP well, allowing fuel to blowback into bowl
worn out plunger.

Yeah, it's when the throttle is open. I've been meaning to do a carb rebuild anyway, I mean I've been meaning to have Jim do one for me. I'll start with the simple stuff for now. It's annoying because she was running great before. Apparently trucks don't like to sit for extended periods.

Oh man, that was just too easy. Replaced the fuel filter and it's working great. Literally took five minutes, most of which was spent just searching for where the filter lives.

wait a couple of weeks and you might get lucky

it just might return... you might want to check the fuel in the tank and see what kind of shape it is actually in. the tank can be drained from the bottom into a bucket after lowering the tire... good chance if the truck was parked for a while that the fuel has garbage and water in the tank.

drain & flush if problem persists.
