So Cal, in the hood
I want to line the interior of my 55 with Herculiner. My problem is that I have some surface rust that I need to remove first. My question is... Do I need to apply some POR15 or Rust Bullet first then the liner? I'll be using a paint stripper to get rid of all the old paint. Will I still need to use a degreaser to remove the residue left from the stripper?

Input is greatly appreciated.

not sure about the rust stuff but all the liner stuff stays much better with good prep so make sure to get every bit of junky residue off

Rust bullet is supposedly OK to paint over, but Herculiner will definitely not stay on POR-15-nor will anything else. I'd suggest Ospho (Phosphoric acid) first, then the liner. And be sure to mix that stuff well. Sure you want the surface of your 55 to have that gritty texture?

I aplied the Herculiner to mine. Loved it at first but it fades quickly with sun and found it very pourous. I went through the long work of removal. Just make sure it is what you really want before you apply. It can be a pain to remove.

Thanks guys... I applied it over the weekend and so far I am happy with it. Looks really good.

Again, thank you for your input.
