Ok, I am frustrated! I had a broken valve cover bolt that I tried to fix. I did everything I know to get it out, I couldn't do it. I tried vise grips, drilling, an EZout type thing, etc. So, I decided to put it all back together again, and leave it broken. Of course this time my valve cover starts leaking from the area by the broken bolt.

What do I do....I decide to torque the bolts surrounding it down a little bit tighter. Yes, you guessed it! I broke another bolt!

How in the world can I get these two broken bolts out. It seems that the metal for the bolts are too strong for my titanium drill bits!?

Does anyone have any tools or suggestions to try? I really want to get this fixed!

Dang, that sucks. I've usually had good luck with easy-outs. Have you tried putting heat on the head to try to swell the holes a little? Just grabbing at any ideas...

I can't post right now because I have to take the valve cover off again. I am booked up until Sunday. I will be wrenching on Sunday afternoon and can take pics

Ithere is about 1/2 sticking out. I tried JB Weld but the nut I put on broke off. If we can weld it, I bet it could work

Anyone want to help out one night next week with the welding of a nut?

Yes I can drive it,but I would need to tear it apart in your driveway.

In my experience, welding a nut to the head of that bolt may not produce the results you're hoping.

If you can't remove it with an easy out, there's a good chance it's not going to weld right.

I hope you can weld a nut and get it out. I really hope you prove me wrong. But, it has happened to me before, and the nut just twists off.

Make sure you clean all the crap off the remaining bolt very well and try to find a non-plated nut.

After all that Debbie Downer'ing, I hope it works!!!

I wish I could help but will be out of town.

Like jordan said make sure and clean the bolt off really well and keep a fire extinguisher close.

I do want to try a different EZ-Out first just to see of I have different results. May be someone can swing by and take a look at it next week when I try a different tool

Is that one of those reverse drill bits?

If vice grips won't get it, I don't think an easy out will work any better.

Are the cross-threaded?

worse comes to worse I guess you can drill the whole thing out and re tap it.

I guess it is cross threaded but I don't see how. I hand tightened then used a wrench. Not sure of the double nut trick but it's about 1/2 inch out. Threads are eaten up by vise grips.
