I finally dropped the front axle. I moved on to removing the front leaf springs. However I can't seem to remove the bolt running through the bushings on the front spring hangers.

So what is the trick. Keep in mind these things have been in place for 20 years. I was surprised the nut came off as easily as it did.

Nothing like the smell of burning rubber bushings in the morning... :)

My front bolts weren't too difficult, but I sprayed 'em with SiliKroil for several days before attempting to remove them. I left the nut on and beat on it with a BFH. :D Had to use a torch on the rear bolts tho..

Let em burn.. I normally get em hot enough to ignite themselves before even starting to attempt to pound out.. Bob's correct. Leave the nut on the end to solve the problem of dorked threads.. Thread file is sometimes needed as well. Pry bar, cussing, torch etc.. It smells awesome, molten rubber flys around the shop and drips. Don't pick up the part or touch the spring tho! I normally leave the torch on approx 1/2 beer give or take a half..

I'll be sure to take pictures of my attempt for the newsletter. Might even make it a part of my New Years Eve celebration. I'll invite all my guest out to the garage and in a drunken stuper stammer the words "HEY WATCH THIS!"
