I would suggest a good scotch to calm your nerves! What a beautiful truck and an incredible restoration. You really inspire me. Sell her on to someone who will obviously care for her at that price and start a new project. Soon enough you will fall in love with the next project!

Plus we newbies and even existing MUD members need to see more of your work!

Good luck!

Nothing like unsolicited advice but as someone who has built custom homes and other real estate projects, one of the first things you learn in all the books on real estate is don't fall in love with your projects. This may be a different case for you as I don't know all the history behind the vehicle. I can see that you know how to properly restore these vehicles and should be quite proud of the price that it has brought.

I would also add that if you do sell it the new owner will have the pride of ownership but you will always retain the pride of having found it and restored it to such a high level.

In that sense it will always be yours.

For my own selfish reasons I am really looking forward to your future build!

73,100.00 :crybaby: WOW. I am glad to see these vehicles get to the numbers they deserve. I just wonder what the reserve was ?

I think the cruiser will find a good home pretty soon. A home where the new owner will show it a lot. That has always been my goal and I may have found that. Thanks you guys for the comments and concerns and yes FHAWK5, it is interesting to see what an old one might fetch. Still wish I could keep it though. :( I will give MUD an update when I have one.

sure it will, its all about the $$, not the buyer, reserve set high, plenty of buyers, found one, will sell out of Ebay and not have to pay Ebay.....worked perfect, also used Mud to help sell it.

don't get me wrong, damn fine resto, but please don't try to fool us

Landpimp,,,,,,,,Fool you? The reserve was set fairly. The reserve was not met. Ebay has been paid already. My thread represents my work. Nothing ''perfect'' as you suggested as the cruiser has not been sold yet. Not all about the money. I am trying to keep the cruiser here in the United States. Trying to handle the sale just as carefully as I handled the build. The scope is much wider then Ebay. I might even be taking less money in the end. Hope this clarifies a bit.

Active minds.

Input of differing viewpoints.

Only rare examples of over-reactions , real aggression or prolonged nastiness despite our vast differences in backgrounds, tastes, wallet-sizes, etc

That's what's so good and healthy about ih8mud....

And all readers and posters are left to make up their own minds as to whose viewpoint has more merit.

This is the way it should be and so much better than most other websites

And we have you Tom. At the risk of inflating your ego even more than your recent rugby union international outcome likely has, you add significantly to it.

Fjfjfj, good on ya for keeping her in the States if you can. I've worked hard to get as many here from Australia as I can and it pains me to see any leave our shores. I don't fault you a bit and I hope you get every penny you can. You've done a superb job restoring this legendary machine and I admire your talent. I applaud the efforts of folks like you, Jonathon Ward and everyone else who does these old machines the justice they deserve. I've driven fj40s since 1984 when they got zero respect and often felt I was alone in my admiration of them. I am very happy to see that they are finally being preserved rather than bashed to death and sold for scrap.

Newbie:rolleyes:

It does look like I may live long enough to make a little more than scarp prices for all these cruisers I saved from ending up in the junk yard. Even gone so far as rescuing one that was already there.

I dont disagree with the price, its worth it(to some) and you did top notch work(some of the best I have seen)

just seems everyone has an "angle" these days. It turns what is a hobbie for most of us into something else. This is not your 1st resto sale and I am sure it wont be your last.

If you had said in the beginning that you were building it with the intent to sell, I dont think you would have gotten the help you did. Ward, well he is up front as that is what he does for a living.

again, your team did a incredible job.

just stating my observations.

Landpimp,,,,,,,,,,,The 1962 FJ40 is my 1ST full Resto, and I sell from my collection when I need money to pay bills. As far as helping others with their cruisers? Well, to each his own. I am sure the opinions vary. It is just cool to see folks devoting time, energy and money to the old Land Cruisers, cool to see folks getting energy from MUD. Who gives a **** what they do with them down the road. Just my opinion.

Living in the Past,,,,,,,,I remember you mentioned in another thread about perhaps building one of yours.

Chamba,,,,,,,,,,Yes, trying to keep the 62 in the United States. Seems outside buyers have shown interest in mine ( Philippines ). Thanks for the comment.

Lost Marbles,,,,,,,Agreed. My dad used to say " We can agree to disagree agreeably" . lol

I remember when I put my rare BJ42LX for sale I got crap too. A buyer on eBay backed out saying his kid hit the button and one guy on mud basically said I was lying so I put up the text on mud. It ended up in the Museum where this one belongs. Don't h8 tha playa...h8 tha game....

It seems you are implying if one chooses to RESTORE one of these vehicles that eventually sells for a decent price, it is the wrong intentions? I hope this is not so as anyone who does such a nice job deserves the market price on the beauty and rarity of such a job. He/she also deserves all the help one can provide to assist in doing so. In my opinion, these are very classic , well designed vehicles that have endured every beating and engine swaps available. If one finds one in stock shape and restores it to museam quality, it should bring the same prices as a "hemi cuda" which is also as rare in unbeat condition.
So, hats off to fjfjfj and I hope my FJ45 can reach this quality of restoration. This type of purist to me beats the ICON which some pay over 100K for.
