up on Ebay I see......very interested where it ends up

:frown: :crybaby:

I maintain that Barret Jackson is where you'll do best. Ebay lacks the buyer fervor a rig like this will get with the crowds at Barrett Jackson Phoenix.

All you need is two cashed-up buyers who want it and you're laughing.

Hello HD,,,,,,,,,,,Thanks for doing that. Your right. Who knows. I just know it should go into a Museum or SOMEPLACE where folks can see it. Hopefully whoever buys it will have the time, energy and money to take it around so cruiserheads can check it out. It's pretty cool. Thanks again for all of your assist.
Hi Chamba, Maybe B. Jackson will be the place for it but I have to be careful. They have an extremely high reserve which mine will not qualify for and I do not think I can afford to gamble with a " no reserve " type of auction. I actually just found all this out. So, I will check around for other auction sites. Thanks again for your assist. Very helpful

I completely understand. I think with the right publicity, reserve will not be an issue for you. I don't know what kind of money you're thinking but I can't imagine you having trouble seeing $40,000+ in Phoenix. There is always the risk that only one bloke will want it, but with a bit of pre-auction publicity in Hemmings linking this thread, I'd be shocked.

Interesting info about Barrett Jackson as it seems like the perfect place for yours. When you say they have an extremely high reserve is it based on the make/model as I feel like I've seen plenty of ~$30k reserves and I'm sure your reserve would be higher than that?

Hello JQ11,,,,,,,,,,,,Interesting. If you happen to see something that reflects a $30k reserve please send it along to my Instant Message. Appreciate it.

Barrett Jackson reserves are for folks in a higher tax bracket than most Mud members. However, given the recent sales prices of 40s and the fervor surrounding them right now with all the recent hoopla from Wall Street Journal and others regarding their collect-ability, I think what you'd be wise to do is to spend $500 or so advertising it with this link in Hemmings and around the boards at least a few months before the auction, then bring her there, polish her up, stay near her with a large board full of photographs and a lap top with this thread on it so you can answer any-and-all questions about the rig immediately.

Having a friendly seller who has a complete documentation history of an extensive rebuild really helps to build excitement. A no reserve auction tells any interested bidder that today is the day and the rig WILL sell, so he better get serious now. With your documentation, your personality and and the results of your labours, that truck will create serious interest. You've done all the leg work with this thread to show a thorough restoration, now get all the money it deserves.

But I'm curious to see what you get on Ebay.

Maybe I was thinking about one of other big auction houses - did they give you an actual $ amount (we only offer reserves if car is over $xxx) or did you send them details on your car and they said it wouldn't qualify for a reserve auction?

Chamba,,,,,,,,,,,Thanks again for the good info. I will pursue.

JQ11,,,,,,,,,,,,I called Barrett Jackson. They said different venues have different reserves. West Palm Beach Florida has the lowest at $50k. I think Scottsdale has the highest at $500k. All the others are over $150k ( something like that ). I will pursue another auction house as you suggested. Thanks.

I agree, Genesis4x4 and I wanted to take the '66 FST we restored and let it ride. However the buyer found me and was less than 5 miles from me. It was hard to take a deposit as that's where it was to be sold when we started.

The owner is a member and would be great to have them side by side. Both museum pieces.

The F135 decal is my favorite decal of all. Was very hard to find in fair condition to match colors. Happy to see it on your resto.

Been able to get any sleep lately, fjfjfj? I'd be a nervous wreck in your position watching the bids climb as the days slowwwwwly wind down.

Not sure how you feel, but all those digits have got me exclaiming, "wow."

Pretty exciting, eh? Hope that number ends up where you want!

Yea, given that your reserve isn't met at now $63K I'd agree that a no-reserve auction like Barrett is not for you - too much risk. Assuming those bids are legit, I'd be extremely happy with those numbers as it stands now but best of luck on getting a bid above reserve - exciting to watch from the sidelines!

With so little Ebay feedback that is a remarkable result! But then, the truck does speak for itself.

Barn find?

From one of your fellow listers ads:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964...Cars_Trucks&hash=item4d12ef583b#ht_925wt_1165

Can I just congratulate you on your honesty in describing your rig and say in relation to the above listing that simply because a rig is found in a barn does not make it a "Barn Find". This is a seriously over-used and misunderstood term. This FJ45 SWB listed above is absolutely anything BUT a barn find. Yours was. This was a rig which just happens to have run out of fuel in a barn after being beaten very hard for 30+ years.
