A little progress to report. Got around to removing the spacer from the fan to move it back away from the radiator. Looks a lot more correct. As such, I’ve got the spacer and bolts from City Racer for sale.

Also got to play with the header today. Got the O2 sensor bung welded in. Don’t look at my s***ty welds.
Thought it would be cool to go classic hot rod and paint the header white. Hit it with primer first just so I can pretend to be fancy.
Of course I had to do a test fit and of course I ruined my pretty white paint. Because I can’t have anything nice.
Here we go!

Reinstalled these rings. No idea if they’re necessary with the Remflex gasket, but better safe than sorry.

Had to call to get the correct heat riser gasket back when I didn’t have the header.

And done! Pretty happy with it so far. Took the opportunity to weld up some holes in the exhaust while I had it off for the flange. No leaks! Feels good to check that off finally.

It occurred to me that I could update this thread with my current cruiser and potential plans for a future cruiser related business venture for anyone that may be interested. On the home front, we’re trying to make ends meet again here in Colorado now. I’ve been gainfully employed again for about a year now and the wife’s photography business is finally picking up again. She’s slowly getting re-established (again) here. I’ll be honest though, it’s been tough. Especially with this s***ty economy on top of it all.
I’ve posted briefly about my current rig elsewhere, but haven’t started a build thread yet. Planning to do that soon. For those that haven’t seen it, this is Mabel my gorgeous medium blue 1987 FJ60:
She’s been my daily driver for about a year now. Done quite a bit to keep her on the road and more comfortable, but mostly just been driving her. All of that driving gives me plenty of time to think about what I’d like to add/change to make her a better, more comfortable rig for modern roads.
Having said all of that, I’ve been mulling over the idea for years of starting a cruiser (or any car) related side-gig that scratches the automotive engineering/design/hot rod itch I’ve had since I was a kid. But, lately I am really feeling motivated and think I have a viable set of projects that I think will improve my experience. And, therefore hopefully helping others that drive their 2F powered 60’s around more than just occasionally on the weekends or to events. Don’t get me wrong, these projects/products could be enjoyed by all 60-series owners!
I’ll save the details of my plans for my future build thread and/or vendor page(s). Stay tuned y’all!
