Another perceived problem I’m having is this concaving feature between the frame and the foam on the drivers back rest…

A few months and none of those little things will bother you 😉. Get the jump seats done too? What’s left before you can take her around the block?

You’re right. Well I skipped some of the necessary stuff and opted to do the seats and other “fun” stuff. Still need to do the brakes (wheel cylinders), button up and flush coolant system, blinkers, tail lights, horn, oil & filter, diff fluids, trans/t-case fluids, reconnect rear drive shaft and figure out carburetor. Oh and register it. All before Roundup!

Is there a soft top on it in that pic or am I seeing things?
It’s an old crappy bestop @Goforth gave me a while back. Been playing with it to see what it needs to be functional.

Oh and a crappy modification to a crappy old later model mirror since the correct one is insanely rare and obscenely expensive.

Ah yes… The dreaded SD40 warpage. A little heat and mechanical persuasion makes it much, much better. Not perfect, but definitely better.

Staying on the carb theme… For some odd reason this thing has a hole through to the barrel. I’m going to assume it’s not supposed to be there and fill it with some fuel rated jb weld for now.

Much better. Again not perfect but functional.

@KennyBob are all the parts there? I was in my shed the other day and found some plastic that I couldn't identify where it went.
Mostly I think. It’s missing the rear flap and I don’t have doors for it obviously. I can’t think of where some plastic pieces might go.

Promptly started bolting stuff on! Of course I had to extract a couple of broken bolts and drill some holes first. What would this project be without one or both of those things.

I also got some rear reflectors. But I am really confused on where they go or whether or not they even belong on a 66.

Nice box of goodies!!

I think those reflectors started around 68??, they go on the rear and the sides. Picture is a 69 FJ40

That’s what I’ve been seeing. Did the earlier 40s never have reflectors? I was thinking it might be cool to put them up high like the 25s had.

I’d like to have some for safety if nothing else.

You and me both man! Blows my mind a little. It’s funny what they choose to keep producing too. There’s several things I can’t get for my 80 anymore, but somehow I can get all sorts of things for the 40.

Let there be light!

For some reason I had to add a ground to the tailgate for the license plate light to work.
