Has anyone tried to add aftermarket seat heaters to an '08 FJ? I bought an aftermarket kit and found that the seats have a seam midway up the backrest and the bottom cover which prevents the heater elements from covering the entire area. So..you cannot just push the heater elements under the seat covers. I do not want to mess with the foam and muck up any of the sensors in the seat (esp the passenger side with the detector).

I can put them in my wifes Pathfinder, but we use the FJ much more often.

Thanks,
Michael

Thanks DEWFPO! There was a part in there that gave me the answer I really needed on the seat gaps.

Not sure about that, but let me tell you this...I would not suggest trying to get past the bottom or back tensioner with the heating element.

We did the drivers seat first and had to undo almost all the cover clips and still it was very (very) :bang: difficult to get the pad past the tensioner on the bottom seat.

For the drivers back and passenger bottom and back I just trimmed the heater element to fit the area up to the tensioner.

The results...nice warm seats for these frigid Colorado mornings.

That was my install I posted almost 2 years ago, and I still use the seat heaters daily in the winter. By far the best mod I ever did. I never did redo the switch or put in a 4runner switch. Anyone try that?

I put the switch in the center console on the sides about where the front driver cupholder ends. I do not have any pics, but I will get one and post it.

Looks good and is out of the way. Only drawback is when you have them on low heat, you cannot see the light showing they are on.

They work great and without your instructions, I would never have been able to get the driver side heater element under the tension bar.
