heat shield rattle, cheap and easy fix

For those of you that have suffered through the embarrassment of heat shield rattle, your worries are over. Instead of replacing the exhaust system, grab some large worm-style hose clamps. Place the clamps over the offending heat shields and tighten. No more rattle. Cost, about $2 per clamp. Good luck. Phil
 
However, it won't fix things inside the head shields like pebbles and other loose/rusted pieces of metal, or other sources of similar sounding rattles: e-brake, muffler bracket, etc.

What is a worm hose clamp?
 
just a big hose clamp, the kind that has a screw on it. You can get them at any auto parts or hardware store. You will need to unscrew it all of the way and slip it around the heatshield/cat. What I found was that one of the tabs on the heater shield had cracked and allowed the shield to rattle against the cat. Good luck. Phil
