The trick is supposed to be to engage the parking brake before starting the truck to keep the DRLs off. On the Canadian spec 1958 this doesn't work, it may be a regulatory issue where daytime running lights need to be on at all times. Wondering whether the US models differ and you're able to keep the lights off while camping in the truck.

I should have added that the lights stay on in the event you want the vehicle in "Ready" mode so being able to use the AC 120V system using the hybrid battery to power accessories or use the HVAC.

yes i can start vehicle with lights off providing my lights are in the off position 2025 LC250 Premium USA. The steering column controls have 2 off positions its a 2 stage switch. "fat guy in a little coat"

I now discovered that US models allow for DRLs to be turned off whereas Canadian spec models do not. By law in Canada, DRLs need to be on at all times the vehicle is on regardless of whether it's parked with e-brake on or not, which makes no sense to me considering this vehicle is touted as an overland type vehicle and people will want to camp overnight in it. Why could the system not include an over-ride option for DRLs to be able to disengage when the e-brake is on?

The light stalk is not the same, the US version has an off position for the lights, Canadian version does not. It annoys me to no end especially given what the truck is intended for. I've read that swapping out the light stalk for a US version could be the fix but I doubt Toyota would agree to install it since it's a legal requirement to have DRLs on at all times.
