Doing a restomod and have a question about wiring. I broke my hazard switch knob off and now seeing they are very expensive to replace. Since I am rewiring any way would it be easier to wire up turn signals and hazards separate instead of running all turn signals and hazards through the same switch?

NO ............

@ToyotaMatt put it very succinctly. This switch is integral to both systems and seperating them will create a headache that you cannot immagine. If you need a new switch I believe there are a few excellent examples in the post above. No affiliation but I can recognize quality when it is beating me in the face.

What year/pin configuration are you looking for? I have one advertised on the FJ45 board. Its ‘76-‘85 vintage. Pictures and price listed. Search for my name.

I'd agree with those guys, especially if you're referring to your '76. It kinda sucks Toyota wired it that way but de-coupling the hazard from the turn and brake circuits would take most folks hours and it would be difficult to do without pulling the harness.

I just restored my steering column back to 1996 vintage and had to configure the wiring for a hazard as they didn’t have the back then. Took a while to get the wire colors from the switch to match the diagrams, but I do have that around somewhere it you need it.

Yep, that sounds like the way to go, thanks for the responses
